WARG was incorporated as a non-profit organization, rather than a club, in 1977. (The founders saw no point in competing with amateur radio clubs in the region.) Membership -- this is an Adobe PDF file -- is encouraged to offset expenses of maintaining and powering three repeaters. Membership rates are held to a minimum. An annual meeting, according to the laws of the State of New Jersey, is held once a year. The meeting is open to all radio amateurs interested in the WARG repeaters. Subscribe to the RSS feed to watch this site on news of the repeater group and activities.
WARG operates three repeaters at a site within the township of Willingboro. Two of the three repeaters have PL (ChannelGuard) in service; see the table for tones and settings. Standard tone frequencies for this area of the State are used. The purpose of the units is to reduce co-channel interference.
The WARG wide-area coverage repeaters are open to all licensed radio amateurs. Common sense and courtesy is the only reasonable request in using our repeaters. Listen for and acknowledge those who may drop their call into a conversation before the courtesy beep. Use your good judgement, but we suggest you do not necessarily let that person calling in wait 3 or 5 minutes for a "turn." That weaker signal you hear may be a radio amateur in trouble...
Please remember that many people -- including non-licensed persons using scanners -- are listening at all hours of the day and night. Appropriate language and avoidance of confrontational discussions is requested.
We encourage local radio amateurs regularly using the repeaters to join WARG. If you regularly use and enjoy the repeaters and the wide-area coverage, your help through membership continues to help us keep the non-profit repeater association equipment on the air.
